It takes a village . . .

. . .to get my kid to school. Liam (22 months) was doing his business this morning when the girls left, so he got left behind. He was undaunted. He bravely put on his backpack, gave us each a kiss, and told me to close the door. As we watched out the kitchen window, he bravely made it half-way to school all by himself before hesitating (The primary school is less than 100 meters away, and we can see the gate from our kitchen window). Then our neighbor came along, and he went a little further with her before turning back again. Just as I was about to go rescue him, one of Kiara’s friends came by and took him by the hand; that’s all it took. Now Liam even ignores his mom when she shows up at the school.
I love our community.
