[From Radio news this morning.] Koffi Annan says that he sees the light at the end of the tunnel. One of the government negotiators said he expects the deal to be finalized today. If not, “we will work through the weekend until we are done. I think you can see by the smiles on the faces of my friends from the opposition as they walked out of the negotiations that we are very close to a solution.” Just to be sure a bunch of women for peace are dressing in white and surrounding the hotel where negotiations are taking place. “If Kenyan women in IDP camps can’t go home, then our politicians shouldn’t be able to go home either until they finish their work.”
So hopefully by the time you read this, we will all be celebrating. Then the real work of healing and real peace can begin.
