Nairobi is Normal

We went downtown yesterday to visit Randy and Gretchen Brandt, old friends from DC who are on their way Tanzania.  The only reminder of any trouble ever is the small burned out building we drove past. Everything else was normal including the traffic jams. We fed the giraffes by hand at the nearby Giraffe Center and had lunch together. It was really good to see them. They also brought us loot from the US, chocolate chips and yes a couple of books.

The soap opera on the political scene continues, but peace reigns over the majority of Kenya. All eyes are on Kofi Annan and he seems to be doing a pretty amazing job. Everyone has easily agreed to all basic points so far. Now for the tougher issues.
